Using Your Air Con
Using your air con system will increase the amount of fuel your car consumes but using it correctly will reduce this
increase to a minimum. Driving with the windows open will also increase fuel consumption so it is worth learning how
to use your air con in the most efficient way.
Your windows should always be closed when using your air con. Your systems allows you to control the temperature inside
your vehicle and the air will be les dusty and low on pollen.
By having your refrigerant level checked and an anti bacterial treatment at least once every other year you will reduce
fuel consumption by allowing the compressor to perform at its maximum efficiency. Anti-bacterial treatment will ensure
the system remains hygienic.
If your vehicle is hot inside when you get in, try the following:
Switch the air con to full cold and switch on the recirc button. This means the system is only trying to cool the air
already in the car. You will quickly feel the temperature dropping.
When it gets to a comfortable level switch off the recirc button and adjust the temperature to suit.
IMPORTANT: Do not use the recirc button for prolonged periods as it can cause dehydration.
Please read our Air Con Recharging and System Servicing sections for more information about maintaining your air
conditioning system.
